Successful campers at Camp Launchpad are:
Mature: It looks like a kiddo who is at least 10 years old regardless of what grade they are going into next year. Beyond that, does your kiddo…
Make good use of time while waiting their turn?
Share with peers?
Anticipate implications of their actions?
Encourage (and not distract) their peers?
Stay open to critical feedback from an adult or another peer?
Responsible: Will your kiddo…
Use tools and supplies for their intended camp projects and camp side quests (not for their personal projects)? We're NOT printing fidget toys in 3D Printing camp!
Clean up after themselves at lunch and at the end of each day (with reminders and time given :))?
Reliable at following directions the first time. Sometimes these directions are critical safety directions and sometimes they are project directions. Does your kiddo…
Listen to directions the first time?
Ask follow-up or clarifying questions at the time of the directions?
Resilient. Launchpad challenges even the most gifted kids. Because campers are mostly teaching themselves incredibly challenging skills, and then trying out whether they've taught themselves those skills effectively once they apply them to the project, there will be plenty of failures and frustration during the course of the week. Campers cheer “I did a thing!” when they succeed at something because each step is challenging.
